Strengths and Weaknesses at a Glance
IG Markets’s published terms for the first quarter of 2026 give a clear picture of one of the oldest brokerage firms in the world. The comparison that follows is worked against a reference balance of 1,000 dollars on an account under the IG International entity, and it covers the published costs on major currency pairs, indices, gold and oil, the support channels, and three different trading platforms.
Advantages:
- An exceptional range of instruments, running beyond 17,000 financial products and covering forex, indices, shares, commodities, digital assets and bonds. Few brokers match that range
- Licensed by more than 10 regulators around the world, FCA in the United Kingdom, ASIC in Australia, BaFin in Germany and DFSA in Dubai among them. That level of regulation is rare in the industry
- The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) in the FTSE 250 index, which requires a high standard of financial transparency and audited annual reporting
- An advanced proprietary trading platform with ProRealTime and TradingView integration, plus MT4 for traders who prefer the conventional route
- Educational content and market research among the strongest in the industry, available in part in Arabic through the IG United Arab Emirates site
- An operating history running to more than 50 years, since 1974, which gives the firm a standing most competitors do not have
- A direct presence in the United Arab Emirates through an office in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) with a DFSA licence
Drawbacks:
- The Islamic, swap-free account is not currently available. That is a real obstacle for a large group of Arabic-speaking traders looking for trading compliant with Islamic law
- The minimum deposit is relatively high, at 250 dollars by card, against brokers such as Exness at 10 dollars or XM at 5 dollars
- An inactivity fee of 12 dollars a month, which starts after 24 months without trading
- The spread on the standard account is higher than at some competitors that specialise in low costs, such as Pepperstone and Exness on their professional accounts
- Arabic-language support is limited to the Dubai office’s official working hours and is not available around the clock, as it is at some competitors
Taken together, IG Markets suits traders looking for range in instruments, a high standard of regulatory oversight and advanced trading platforms. It may not be the right choice for anyone who needs an Islamic account, or who wants to start with very little capital.
Company Information
The IG group was founded by Stuart Wheeler in 1974 in London under the name IG Index, which makes it one of the oldest brokerage firms in the world. In July 2000, IG Group Holdings plc was established as the parent company, and it became the first firm of its kind to list its shares on the London Stock Exchange, where they trade under the symbol IGG in the FTSE 250 index.
The company information published as of February 2026 shows a level of financial transparency uncommon among trading brokers. As a publicly listed company on the London exchange, IG is obliged to publish audited financial reports periodically. On the annual report for 2025, covering the financial year ended in May 2025, group revenue ran beyond 1.27 billion dollars and adjusted pre-tax profit reached 535.8 million pounds sterling, up 17% on the previous year. Active client numbers reached around 820,000 following the acquisition of the Freetrade platform.
IG operates through multiple legal entities in more than 17 countries, among them the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Singapore, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Bermuda and the United States. That geographical spread reflects the firm’s size and its capacity to meet many different regulatory requirements at once.
Is IG Markets a scam? The question recurs in Arabic-language search. On the public record, the answer is emphatically no. This is a firm more than 50 years old, listed on the London exchange, supervised by more than 10 regulators, and publishing audited financial statements signed off by Deloitte. Those are not the characteristics of a fraudulent operation. None of it means that trading with the firm carries no risk of losing money: around 71% of retail trader accounts lose money trading contracts for difference with IG, a proportion close to the industry average. Anyone wanting to check a brokerage firm independently can read the guide to avoiding trading scams.

Why Traders Choose IG Markets
A handful of characteristics distinguish IG from the rest of the brokerage field. None of them makes it universally suitable, but together they give it an unusual position in the global market.
Market coverage with few rivals: With more than 17,000 instruments, IG publishes the widest range of markets available at any broker. It lists 80+ currency pairs, thousands of international shares including some from emerging markets, global indices, commodities, digital assets, bonds and even interest rates. The catalogue extends to instruments most brokers do not carry at all, such as options on smaller indices and contracts on less-traded commodities. That range suits a trader who wants to diversify across several asset classes from a single platform.
Tier 1 regulatory standing: Few firms hold licences from this many top-tier authorities. An office licensed by DFSA in the Dubai International Financial Centre means a trader in the United Arab Emirates deals with an entity under strict local supervision rather than an offshore one. That is a standard of regulation most brokers in the region do not offer. Anyone wanting to understand why licences matter can read the guide to licensing and regulation in trading.
Advanced trading platforms: The proprietary IG platform is built for professional use, and on its published specification it goes beyond most competing platforms. ProRealTime integration for advanced charting and automated trading, along with the TradingView option, gives a professional trader a deep technical toolkit. The availability of MT4 also serves traders who are used to that platform.
Research and analysis: The research and educational content IG publishes ranks among the best in the brokerage industry. IG Academy offers structured courses, and the daily analysis covers global markets in depth and with professional rigour. Part of that content is available in Arabic through the IG United Arab Emirates site.
Financial transparency: As a company listed on the London exchange, IG publishes audited financial reports periodically. That degree of transparency gives a trader an additional measure of reassurance, since the firm’s financial position can be examined at any time. Revenue beyond 1.27 billion dollars in 2025 reflects the firm’s scale and its financial stability.
Licences and Regulation
Each of the IG licence numbers can be checked directly against the register of the authority that issued it. On those registers as of February 2026, the IG group holds licences from more than 10 regulators around the world, which is a record in the brokerage industry. Most of them are authorities classified in the first tier (Tier 1), the most demanding anywhere.
| Legal entity | Regulator | Licence number | Regulatory tier | Countries served |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| IG Markets Ltd | FCA (United Kingdom) | 195355 | Tier 1 | United Kingdom |
| IG Index Ltd | FCA (United Kingdom) | 114059 | Tier 1 | United Kingdom (Spread Betting) |
| IG Europe GmbH | BaFin (Germany) | 148759 | Tier 1 | European Union member states |
| IG Australia Pty Ltd | ASIC (Australia) | 515106 | Tier 1 | Australia |
| IG Asia Pte Ltd | MAS (Singapore) | 200510021K | Tier 1 | Singapore |
| IG Limited | DFSA (Dubai) | F001780 | Tier 1 | United Arab Emirates (DIFC) |
| IG US LLC | CFTC/NFA (United States) | 0509630 | Tier 1 | United States |
| IG Markets South Africa | FSCA (South Africa) | FSP 41393 | Tier 2 | South Africa |
| IG International Ltd | BMA (Bermuda) | 54814 | Tier 3 | International markets |
Is IG genuinely licensed? Yes, and it is straightforward to check independently. Open the register of the FCA in the United Kingdom (register.fca.org.uk) and search for number 195355: the entry returned is IG Markets Ltd, registered and authorised. The public register of the DFSA in Dubai (dfsa.ae/public-register) can be searched for IG Limited in the same way, to confirm licence F001780. The detailed guide to licensing in the trading industry covers why these registers matter and how to search them.
What does that mean in practice for an Arabic-speaking trader? A resident of the United Arab Emirates will most likely be onboarded to the IG Limited entity, licensed by DFSA, a tier 1 authority. That entity works under a demanding regime covering segregation of client money and strict capital requirements. A resident of another Arab country outside the Emirates may instead be onboarded to the IG International entity, licensed by the Bermuda authority (BMA), which is classified in the third tier and works under a lighter rulebook. The same pattern appears at other large brokers, Pepperstone among them, which also serves some Arab clients through offshore entities.
The standout positive here is the IG office in the DIFC in Dubai. It means the broker has a physical presence in the Arab region rather than a website alone. A trader in the United Arab Emirates deals with an entity supervised directly by DFSA, a level of local regulation many international competitors do not offer. Checking a broker’s licence before opening any trading account is worth the effort.
Opening an Account and Verification
On the account-opening process as published in February 2026 on ig.com, the sequence is orderly but longer and more detailed than at brokers such as Exness or XM. The reason is that IG applies higher regulatory standards and asks for more detail about the trader before approving an account.
Initial registration requires a form covering personal information (name, date of birth, address), financial information (source of income, net worth, level of savings) and trading experience (whether the applicant has traded before, which instruments, and at what size). The questionnaire is not a formality: IG may decline to open an account for an applicant it judges unsuited to leveraged trading, which is in fact a positive signal about how seriously the firm treats its obligations to clients.
Once the form is submitted, proof of identity (a passport) and proof of address (a recent utility bill) are required, uploaded through the website. The firm publishes no verification turnaround and none is timed here. Some traders report completion within a few hours, which depends on the quality of the documents supplied and the time of submission.
Anyone new to trading who wants to understand the basic steps involved can turn to the guide to opening a trading account, which explains the process step by step across different brokers.
The account-opening steps, in short:
- Visit ig.com, choose “open an account” and fill in the full registration form
- Upload the verification documents (identity plus proof of address)
- Wait for the account to be approved
- Deposit, and choose the trading platform that suits
One point worth noting: IG provides a free demo account (Demo) with no time limit and a virtual balance of 10,000 dollars. The demo runs on live market conditions, which makes it a sound way to try the platform before committing real money.
Account Types
IG takes a different approach to account structure from many brokers. Rather than offering 5 or 6 account types under different marketing names, IG offers a single core trading account, with additional options for professional traders and for anyone wanting direct market access (DMA). That approach is simpler and clearer than the confusing line-ups some competitors publish.
| Account type | Minimum deposit | Spread from | Commission | Maximum leverage | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard trading account (CFD) | $250 USD (card) / no minimum (bank transfer) | 0.6 pips (EURUSD) | None (built into the spread) | 1:30 (European retail) / 1:200 (IG International) | Most traders |
| DMA account (direct market access) | $250 | From 0.1 pips | Commission per trade (varies by instrument) | The same as the standard account | Active and professional traders |
| Professional account (Professional) | $250 | 0.6 pips | None | Up to 1:222 | Qualifying traders (conditions apply) |
The standard account: the core account, and the one that suits most traders. The cost is built entirely into the spread, with no separate commission. It gives access to all of the more than 17,000 instruments available. The structure is straightforward and direct, with no complications to work around.
The DMA account: gives direct access to real market prices from the liquidity providers. The spread is lower, starting at 0.1 pips on the major pairs, but a separate commission applies to each trade. This account is worth attention for an active trader who wants the lowest possible cost per trade.
The professional account: available only to traders who meet specific conditions, among them working in the financial sector for at least a year, executing at least 10 large trades a quarter over the past year, or holding a portfolio of financial instruments above 500,000 euro. The professional account offers higher leverage, up to 1:222, but it comes with fewer regulatory safeguards than an ordinary retail account.
The Islamic account: IG does not currently offer an Islamic, swap-free account. The option was available to its clients in Dubai in the past, but it has not been offered since 2025. That is a real weakness for traders looking for trading compliant with Islamic law. Anyone for whom a swap-free account is essential may need to consider alternatives such as Exness, which provides one automatically, or eToro.
Fees and Trading Costs
Trading costs are the factor with the most direct bearing on a trader’s profitability over the long run. The comparison below sets the published spread at different points in the trading day against three competitors reviewed on this site: eToro, Pepperstone and Exness, on figures published in the first quarter of 2026.
Spreads
On the pricing published through February 2026, the IG spread on the standard account improves noticeably during the overlap between the London and New York sessions and widens through the low-liquidity hours. The published headline of “from 0.6 pips” on EURUSD is a floor rather than an average: the typical quote for EURUSD on that account sits between 0.8 and 1.0 pips through active trading hours.
The table below sets out the approximate average spread on the standard account, with no commission, for the most widely traded instruments against three competitors. The figures are approximate and drawn from pricing published during the first quarter of 2026 by the brokers themselves and by independent sources.
| Instrument | IG Markets (standard) | eToro | Pepperstone (standard) | Exness (standard) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EURUSD | 0.9 pips | 1.0 pips | 1.0 pips | 1.1 pips |
| GBPUSD | 1.3 pips | 2.0 pips | 1.3 pips | 1.5 pips |
| USDJPY | 0.9 pips | 1.0 pips | 1.1 pips | 1.1 pips |
| AUDUSD | 1.0 pips | 1.5 pips | 1.2 pips | 1.4 pips |
| USDCHF | 1.3 pips | 1.5 pips | 1.3 pips | 1.5 pips |
| Gold (XAUUSD) | 0.3 pips | 0.45 pips | 0.18 pips | 0.20 pips |
| Oil (US Crude) | 2.8 pips | 5.0 pips | 3.0 pips | 5.0 pips |
As the table shows, the IG spread on the major currency pairs is competitive: below eToro and Exness on most pairs, and close to Pepperstone’s levels. Gold is quoted at a low spread of 0.3 pips, though Pepperstone betters it there. Oil comes in ahead of eToro and Exness but slightly behind Pepperstone.
Commissions
The standard account charges no commission at all; every cost is built into the spread. The DMA account, by contrast, charges a commission from 3 dollars per lot on the round turn on the major forex pairs, against a lower spread starting at 0.1 pips. Total cost, spread plus commission, on the DMA account usually comes in below the standard account for an active trader.
On share CFDs, IG charges a commission of 0.1% of trade value on British shares, and 2 cents per share on American shares, subject to a minimum of 15 dollars per trade.
Overnight Financing (Swaps)
Overnight financing applies to every contract-for-difference position still open after the market closes for the day. It is made up of a benchmark interest rate plus an administration charge of 2.5% a year, which was raised recently. On the published rates, overnight financing at IG runs slightly above some competitors such as Pepperstone, and that is a factor to weigh for anyone inclined to hold a position open for several days.
For traders who want swap-free trading on religious grounds, the absence of an Islamic account at IG makes this point a difficult one.
Deposit and Withdrawal Fees
IG charges nothing on a bank transfer, in either direction. A deposit by Visa card, though, attracts a 1% fee, Mastercard 0.5%, and PayPal 1.5%. Those card deposit charges are a negative against brokers such as Exness and Pepperstone, neither of which charges anything to deposit by any method. Withdrawals are free by every available route.
Inactivity Fees
IG applies an inactivity fee of 12 dollars a month, or the equivalent in the account currency, where no trade has been placed for 24 consecutive months. That period is relatively long against some brokers — eToro starts charging after 12 months — but the existence of the fee is itself a negative next to Exness and Pepperstone, neither of which charges for inactivity.
The Fee Structure Overall
The IG fee structure is transparent and competitive on the standard account for trading forex and indices. The spread on the major pairs is better than at many competitors. The card deposit fees, the inactivity fee and the relatively high overnight financing are the weak points. An active trader who deposits by bank transfer and trades regularly will find IG costs competitive; an inactive trader, or one who relies on credit cards, may meet additional costs that competitors do not impose.
Desktop Trading Platforms
IG publishes a wide range of trading platforms, covering different levels of experience and different needs. That range is one of the clearest strengths setting IG apart from many competitors.
The proprietary IG platform (Web Platform): the main platform, and it runs in a browser with nothing to install. On its published specification it is among the strongest web trading platforms in the industry. The interface is clean, orderly and quick to respond. It carries advanced charting with more than 30 technical indicators, drawing tools, price alerts and integrated live news, and the dashboard can be customised in full.
ProRealTime: a professional charting platform integrated with an IG account. It offers more than 100 technical indicators, advanced analysis tools, the ability to build custom indicators, and automated trading systems through its own programming language. ProRealTime is free for active traders, meaning 4 trades or more a month; otherwise a monthly fee applies. It suits professional traders who lean heavily on advanced technical analysis.
MetaTrader 4 (MT4): the most popular platform in forex is available as well. It supports automated trading through expert advisors (Expert Advisors) and carries a wide set of indicators. It is worth noting, though, that the number of instruments available through MT4 is far smaller than on the main platform: a few hundred, against more than 17,000 instruments on the proprietary one.
L2 Dealer: an advanced direct-market-access platform (DMA) that shows the depth of the order book (Level 2 data) and trades at real market prices. It is built for professional traders who want maximum control over how their orders are executed.
Each platform’s strengths and limitations are compared in the guide to the different trading platforms.
Mobile Trading Apps
In an age of trading from a phone, IG offers an advanced app of its own for iOS and Android. What follows describes the published feature list for the IG Trading app on Android as of February 2026.
On that feature list the interface is modern and carefully put together. The app carries most of the web platform’s functions, including advanced charting, technical indicators, order management and price alerts. It supports push notifications for price alerts and significant market moves. Execution speed through the app is not measured here.
Arabic support inside the app is limited. The core app interface is available in English only, though the IG United Arab Emirates site (ig.com/ae) offers an Arabic interface in the browser. That is a weak point against brokers such as Exness, which publishes an app with a full Arabic interface.
Alongside the firm’s own IG app, the official MT4 app from MetaQuotes is available in both stores. As noted above, though, the number of instruments available through MT4 is far smaller than on the proprietary app.
For a side-by-side comparison of brokers’ mobile apps, see the guide to the best trading apps.
| Criterion | The IG Trading app |
|---|---|
| Google Play rating | Around 3.8/5 |
| App Store rating | Around 4.0/5 |
| Downloads (Android) | More than 5 million |
| Arabic support | Limited (website only; the app is in English) |
| Deposits and withdrawals in the app | Yes |
| Charting | Advanced, with a wide set of technical indicators |
| Push notifications | Yes (price and news alerts) |
Instruments Available
This is the area where IG clearly outstrips almost every competitor. With more than 17,000 instruments tradable as contracts for difference, IG offers the widest range of markets in the global brokerage industry. The published instrument list on the proprietary platform sets out the detail of each class.
| Asset class | Approximate number | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Currency pairs (forex) | 80+ pairs | EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY, plus major, minor and exotic pairs |
| Shares | 12,000+ shares | American, British, European, Asian and Australian shares |
| Indices | 80+ indices | S&P 500, FTSE 100, DAX, Nikkei, ASX 200 |
| Commodities | 35+ commodities | Gold, silver, oil (Brent and WTI), natural gas, wheat, coffee |
| Digital assets | 11+ digital currencies | Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash |
| Bonds | 10+ bonds | US Treasuries, German bunds, British gilts |
| Interest rates | Available | Fed Funds Rate, Eurodollar |
| Options | Available on several markets | Options on indices, currencies and commodities |
The sheer range of shares available, more than 12,000 shares across many markets, is what sets IG apart in particular. Shares in companies in the United States, Britain, Germany, France, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong and many other markets can all be traded from a single platform. That range is not available at brokers such as Exness, with around 100 shares, or even Pepperstone, which lists a few hundred.
Gold (XAUUSD) is among the most heavily traded instruments on the platform, with deep liquidity and a competitive spread starting at 0.3 pips. Anyone interested in trading the precious metals can read the guide to learning to trade gold for the basics of that market.
One point matters here: the number of instruments available differs with the platform used. The proprietary IG platform and the web build carry the full range, at 17,000+ instruments, while MT4 carries far fewer, a few hundred only. Anyone for whom instrument range is a priority should use the proprietary platform rather than MT4.
Order Execution
IG states that 99.93% of trading orders are executed successfully. That is the broker’s own figure: fill speed is not timed here, and no order-rejection rate is reported.
On slippage (Slippage), the broker publishes no fill-quality statistics and none are gathered here, so no slippage rate is given. Slippage in general appears around significant economic data releases and on thinly traded exotic pairs rather than in ordinary market conditions.
IG operates on a market maker model (Market Maker) on the standard account, taking the other side of a client’s trade, and on a direct market access model (DMA) on DMA accounts, where orders go straight to the liquidity providers. Which model applies to a given account is set out in the broker’s own execution policy.
The order types available include immediate market orders, pending orders (Limit Orders and Stop Orders), stop-loss and take-profit orders, trailing stops (Trailing Stop) and OCO orders, where one cancels the other. IG also offers a “guaranteed stop” feature (Guaranteed Stop), which guarantees that a stop order fills at exactly the price set, even through a price gap, for a small additional fee. That feature is particularly useful for traders concerned about gaps on unexpected news.
Deposit Methods
IG offers a set of core deposit methods, though a narrower set than some competitors publish. A bank transfer carries no charge, while a credit card deposit is immediate but attracts a 1% fee.
| Deposit method | Minimum | Processing time | IG fees |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bank transfer | No minimum | 2-3 business days | Free |
| Visa card | $250 | Instant | 1% |
| Mastercard | $250 | Instant | 0.5% |
| PayPal | $300 | Instant | 1.5% |
The clear negative here is the absence of e-wallets such as Skrill and Neteller, which many Arabic-speaking traders rely on, along with the absence of deposits in digital assets. Brokers such as Exness and Pepperstone offer considerably wider options on this front. The card deposit charges, 1% for Visa and 0.5% for Mastercard, also mean an additional cost that a trader does not carry at other brokers.
On the published terms, a bank transfer is the better deposit route at IG, because it is free and carries no minimum. It does call for patience, taking 2-3 business days.
Withdrawal Methods
The withdrawal routes at IG mirror the deposit routes. A withdrawal is requested from the platform’s own dashboard, and it can go to a bank account, to the card used for the deposit, or to PayPal.
Can money be withdrawn from IG? And what about withdrawal problems? On the terms published for the first quarter of 2026, a withdrawal goes to a bank account or to PayPal, and every withdrawal is free of charge from IG’s side. No withdrawal has been requested or timed here, so the processing times in the table below are the broker’s own figures.
| Withdrawal method | Processing time | IG fees | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bank transfer | 2-5 business days | Free | No maximum |
| Visa / Mastercard card | 2-5 business days | Free | Maximum 20,000 dollars a day |
| PayPal | One business day | Free | Maximum 5,500 dollars per transaction |
Withdrawal speed at IG is not the quickest in the industry: Exness, for instance, offers instant withdrawals through e-wallets. For a broker of IG’s size and regulatory standing, though, the processing times sit within the accepted range. The withdrawal complaints that surface in forums from time to time usually concern accounts where verification was never completed, or attempts to withdraw by a route other than the one used to deposit.
Completing full identity verification before depositing a significant sum, using the same payment method for both deposits and withdrawals, and keeping a record of every transaction are the sensible precautions.
Customer Service
A dedicated WhatsApp channel is published for the Dubai office, and Arabic-language support runs through it during official working hours. The channels published as of February 2026 are set out below. Response speed and reply quality are not assessed here, because no enquiry has been sent.
Live chat (Live Chat): Live chat is published on the website, with replies in English. Questions of the kind a prospective client brings to it — how to open a DMA account, for instance — sit well inside what the channel covers. The broker publishes no target answer time for chat, and queue length is not measured here.
WhatsApp (Dubai office): A dedicated number is published for the Dubai office (+971 4 5592108), and replies on it come in Arabic. The channel is available from 8 in the morning to 5 in the evening Dubai time, Monday to Friday. Outside those hours there is no Arabic-language support.
Telephone: IG provides telephone support, unlike many competitors that have dropped the channel altogether. Telephone support in Arabic is available only through the Dubai office and only during its working hours. Outside those hours the international offices can be called, but support will be in English.
Email: A support address is published for written enquiries ([email protected]), and the Dubai desk answers in Arabic. No target reply time is published for email.
| Channel | Availability | Arabic | Average response time (as published, unverified) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Live chat | 24/5 (from Saturday 8 in the morning to Friday 10 at night GMT) | Not available (English only) | 1-3 minutes |
| WhatsApp (Dubai) | 8 in the morning – 5 in the evening Dubai time (Monday – Friday) | Available | 30 minutes to an hour |
| Telephone | 24/5 (international) / working hours (Dubai, in Arabic) | Available (Dubai hours only) | Immediate |
| 24/7 | Available (via [email protected]) | 4-8 hours | |
| Help centre | Always | Partly in Arabic (the Emirates site) | Immediate (self-service) |
On Arabic-language support: it is available, but limited to the Dubai office’s working hours. That is a clear weakness against brokers such as Exness, which publishes Arabic support around the clock. An Arabic-speaking trader working late at night or over the weekend may have to continue in English. Availability, rather than the range of channels, is the main limitation, and the quality of the replies is not assessed here.
Research and Educational Material
This is the second area where IG clearly outstrips most competitors, after the range of instruments. The educational and research material it publishes has a depth and professionalism not usually found at trading brokers.
IG Academy: a complete educational platform offering structured courses for beginner, intermediate and advanced traders. They cover everything from the basics of trading and reading charts through to advanced strategies in risk management and technical analysis. The content is broken into short modules with interactive tests. The standard is noticeably higher than most brokers manage, and it approaches that of independent specialist educational sources.
Daily analysis and research: A dedicated team of analysts publishes daily and weekly analysis covering global markets in depth, taking in technical and fundamental analysis, market commentary and reviews of economic data. Part of that analysis is available on the IG United Arab Emirates site in Arabic.
Calculation and analysis tools: The site provides a set of useful tools, among them a trading calculator, a detailed economic calendar, trading signals and market sentiment indicators (Client Sentiment) showing the proportion of traders holding long against short positions on each instrument. Those work well as a supplementary analytical tool.
Webinars (Webinars): IG runs live webinars on a regular schedule, presented by specialist analysts. Some of them are available in Arabic through the Emirates office.
Taken as a whole, the educational and research content at IG is among the best any trading broker offers, which makes it an excellent choice for a trader who wants to keep developing. For anyone looking for additional sources on financial analysis and its tools, IG Academy on its own may be enough as a primary educational resource.
Fund Safety and Safeguards
The handling of client money is among the most important factors in choosing a broker, and IG stands out here on the strength of oversight from several high-level authorities. On the safeguards published as of February 2026, several layers exist, and what applies differs with the entity holding the account.
Segregation of client money: Every IG entity under tier 1 regulation (FCA, ASIC, BaFin, DFSA) is required to hold client money in bank accounts entirely separate from the company’s own operating funds. That means that in an insolvency, which is remote given the firm’s size and financial health, client money stays segregated. Supervision of that segregation varies by authority, though FCA and DFSA are among the strictest anywhere on the point.
Negative balance protection: IG provides negative balance protection for retail clients in every jurisdiction that requires it, the United Kingdom and the European Union among them. That means an account cannot lose more than the balance held in it.
Compensation schemes: The IG Markets Ltd entity in the United Kingdom falls under a statutory scheme that sits outside the scope of this review. The IG Europe GmbH entity in Germany participates in the European investor compensation scheme, whose ceiling is 20,000 euro. The DFSA entity in Dubai offers no comparable scheme, but it works under strict capital requirements.
Guaranteed stops (Guaranteed Stop): IG offers guaranteed stop orders, which ensure a stop-loss is filled at exactly the price set even through a sharp price gap. The feature carries a small fee, refunded if the order is never triggered, and it adds a layer of certainty for traders concerned about sudden volatility.
Financial audit: As a company listed on the London exchange, IG is subject to periodic independent financial audit and publishes its financial reports openly. That degree of transparency lets anyone examine the firm’s financial position and satisfy themselves about it. Revenue beyond 1.27 billion dollars and profit above 500 million pounds sterling in 2025 reflect a company in a strong and stable financial position.
In summary on the handling of client money: IG is among the safest brokers in the industry, on the strength of tier 1 oversight in several jurisdictions, its London listing and an operating record running beyond 50 years. An account under the DFSA entity in Dubai sits under a demanding regime. An account under the Bermuda entity (IG International) sits under a lighter one, though even there the firm’s standing and scale offer more reassurance than most competitors can.
The Verdict
On the terms IG Markets published for the first quarter of 2026, this is one of the strongest brokerage firms in the world on regulation, range, platform quality and research. It also carries some significant weaknesses that an Arabic-speaking trader needs to weigh.
Who IG Markets suits:

The common concerns, addressed:
On the question “is IG Markets a scam or a fraud?” which recurs in Arabic-language search: on the public record, the answer is emphatically no. This is a firm founded in 1974, more than 50 years ago, listed on the London exchange in the FTSE 250, licensed by more than 10 tier 1 regulators, with revenue beyond 1.27 billion dollars. Those are not the characteristics of a scam by any measure. But 71% of retail trader accounts lose money trading contracts for difference with IG, which reflects the risks of leveraged trading rather than a problem with the broker itself. For more on telling a trustworthy firm from a fraudulent one, read the guide to fraud in the trading market.
On “is IG banned in Saudi Arabia?” the firm does not hold a licence from the Saudi Capital Market Authority (CMA), but IG is not explicitly banned either. Saudi traders can open accounts through the IG International entity. Confirming the local legal position before opening an account is the better course.
On “IG Markets drawbacks”, the substantive ones are these: no Islamic account, a relatively high minimum deposit, card deposit fees, and Arabic support confined to working hours. Those are real rather than cosmetic.
The overall picture: an exceptional broker on regulation, range, platforms and research, with specific weaknesses around the absence of an Islamic account and the limits on Arabic support. For a resident of the United Arab Emirates looking for a locally licensed broker held to the highest standards, IG deserves serious consideration; where a swap-free Islamic account is essential, other options will be needed. Frequently asked questions about IG Markets
Is IG Markets licensed and trustworthy?
Yes. IG Markets is among the most heavily regulated brokers in the world. It holds licences from more than 10 authorities, among them FCA in the United Kingdom (195355), ASIC in Australia (515106), BaFin in Germany (148759) and DFSA in Dubai (F001780). The company is listed on the London exchange in the FTSE 250 index and publishes audited financial reports periodically. Any of the licences can be checked directly on the website of the authority that issued it.
Is an Islamic account available at IG Markets?
No. IG does not currently offer an Islamic, swap-free account. The option was available to its clients in Dubai in the past but is no longer offered. Where an Islamic account is a basic requirement, alternatives such as Exness or eToro, both of which provide one, may be needed instead.
What is the minimum deposit at IG Markets?
It depends on the deposit method. A bank transfer has no minimum, while a credit card deposit requires a minimum of 250 dollars and PayPal requires 300 dollars. That is higher than at many competitors, but reasonable for a broker of this size and regulatory standing.
How long does a withdrawal from IG Markets take?
A withdrawal through PayPal takes about one business day. A withdrawal by bank transfer or to a card takes 2 to 5 business days. IG charges nothing of its own on a withdrawal.
Is IG Markets suitable for beginners?
In part. The educational content (IG Academy) is among the best any broker offers and serves a beginner very well, and the free, unlimited demo account is useful for learning without risk. The minimum deposit, at 250 dollars by card, is higher than at some competitors. Starting on the demo account and with IG Academy before moving to live trading is the sensible route.
How many markets are available to trade at IG?
More than 17,000 instruments, covering currency pairs, international shares, indices, commodities, digital assets, bonds and options. That is the widest range of markets at almost any trading broker. The full range is available through the proprietary IG platform, while MT4 carries a limited selection.
