XTB Review: Licences, Costs, Platform and Real Shares — featured image

A review of XTB covering its licences and entity structure, the xStation 5 platform, commission-free real shares and its published costs.

By the BrokerSwiss editorial team | Last updated: March 2026

Key Advantages and Drawbacks

XTB is reviewed here on the terms it published for the first quarter of 2026, the xStation 5 platform included, along with its real-share offering and its costs. Nothing here comes from dealing with the firm: no account was funded, no orders were placed, and no contact was made with the support desk. The summary comes first, then the section-by-section detail.

Advantages

  • The firm’s own xStation 5 platform has won several awards and is ahead of MetaTrader on ease of use and modern design
  • Commission-free trading in real shares and exchange-traded funds up to a monthly turnover of 100,000 euros
  • No minimum deposit on the standard account, so an account can start with any amount
  • A company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE), which brings high financial transparency and published quarterly reports
  • Comprehensive and advanced educational content, reckoned among the best in the industry
  • Interest on uninvested cash held in the account, reaching 4% a year
  • Licences from tier-one regulators, including FCA, KNF, CySEC and DFSA

Drawbacks

  • The spread on the Standard account is higher than at some forex specialists such as Pepperstone and IC Markets
  • No MetaTrader 5 platform, and the firm has withdrawn from MT4 by degrees in favour of xStation 5 alone
  • An inactivity fee of 10 euros a month after 12 months without trading
  • Digital-asset options are limited next to some competitors in certain jurisdictions
  • The Arabic interface on xStation 5 could use some work on the translation

On its published terms, XTB suits traders after a modern, easy-to-use platform with commission-free access to real shares. It is less likely to be the ideal choice for professional scalpers who need the tightest possible spread, or who would rather work in MetaTrader.

Company Information

XTB was founded in 2002 under the name X-Trade Brokers Dom Maklerski, with its head office in Warsaw, the Polish capital. It is among the oldest online brokerages in Europe, and it listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) in May 2016 under the ticker XTB. In January 2022 it changed its official name to XTB S.A.

Company filings consulted in February 2026 show that XTB publishes quarterly financial reports as a listed company, a level of transparency most forex brokers do not provide, since they operate as private companies. By the end of the third quarter of 2025 the firm counted more than 1.9 million clients worldwide, with more than 658,000 active traders.

XTB keeps offices in more than 13 countries and employs about 1,000 people. Among its more recent developments are the DFSA licence obtained in Dubai in 2021, to strengthen its presence in the Middle East and North Africa, the launch of spot digital-asset trading through its Cypriot entity in December 2025, and the launch of US share options in January 2026.

Is XTB a scam? The question comes up repeatedly in Arabic-language search. On the public record the answer is no. XTB is a publicly listed joint-stock company on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, supervised by more than 6 regulators around the world, and its financial reports are public and audited by independent accounting firms. That does not make trading with it free of risk: roughly 76% of individual trading accounts lose money on contracts for difference. For checking any brokerage independently, there is a guide to avoiding trading scams.

What Sets XTB Apart

A handful of published features distinguish XTB from other brokerages. None of them makes it the right broker for everyone, but together they make it a strong option for particular kinds of trader and investor.

The award-winning xStation 5 platform: this is the part of the offering that stands out most. The design is modern and unusually intuitive next to the traditional MetaTrader platforms. It carries advanced charting tools, market sentiment indicators, depth of market (DOM), a stock screener (Stock Screener) and built-in performance analytics. The platform took the “Best Overall”, ”Easiest to Use” and ”Best for Beginners” awards from ForexBrokers.com in 2026.

Commission-free real shares: XTB allows trading in more than 3,000 real shares from 16 global exchanges with no commission, up to a monthly turnover of 100,000 euros. Beyond that threshold a commission of 0.2% applies, with a floor of 10 euros. Fractional shares (Fractional Shares) are available too, from 10 euros, which puts high-priced shares such as Amazon or Berkshire Hathaway within reach of small amounts. That matters to anyone building a diversified investment portfolio rather than confining themselves to contracts for difference.

Interest on uninvested cash: among the more distinctive features is that XTB pays interest on money deposited but not put to work in trading. On the rates published for the first quarter of 2026, the return ran between 2.25% and 6.1% a year depending on the currency, calculated monthly. Cash therefore earns something even while it is not being traded.

Listing and transparency: being listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange obliges the firm to publish audited quarterly financial reports and places it under the supervision of the financial markets authority. That degree of transparency is rare among forex brokers. Anyone can look up the company’s revenue, its profit and its client numbers in the published reports.

Strong educational content: the XTB academy is among the better educational offerings anywhere in brokerage. It runs structured courses at different levels, covering trading basics, technical analysis, risk management and investment strategy. That makes it a strong option for beginners setting out to learn the basics of trading and investing.

The DFSA licence in Dubai: XTB obtaining a licence from the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) in July 2021 means there is a legal entity in the region under a well-regarded local regulator, which is reassuring for traders in the Gulf states.

Licences and Regulation

Every licence number XTB publishes was matched against the issuing regulator’s own register in February 2026. XTB holds licences from several regulators, most of them tier one, and that spread reflects the size of the firm and how widely it operates.

Legal entityRegulatorLicence numberRegulatory tierJurisdiction
X-Trade Brokers DM S.A.KNF (Poland)DDM-M-4021-57-1/2005Tier onePoland and the European Union

XTB International LimitedIFSC (Belize)000302/11Tier threeInternational
XTB Africa (PTY) LtdFSCA (South Africa)49753Tier twoSouth Africa

Is XTB genuinely licensed? Yes, and the record can be checked independently. Open the British FCA register (register.fca.org.uk) and search for number 522157: XTB Limited appears there, registered and authorised. The CySEC licence, number 169/12, can be checked the same way on the Cypriot securities regulator’s site. For clients in the Gulf, the DFSA licence, number F006316, can be checked on the Dubai Financial Services Authority register. For more on why licences matter in this industry and how to verify them, there is a detailed guide.

What does that mean in practice for a trader in the Arab region? It turns on where the trader lives. Traders in the United Arab Emirates may deal with the locally regulated DFSA entity, which counts in their favour. Traders in other Arab countries may deal with the IFSC entity in Belize, or with XTB International, both less strict than the European entities. The point that matters is that XTB as a group answers to close supervision by tier-one European regulators (KNF, FCA and CySEC), which lends the group as a whole credibility even where the entity holding a particular account is more lightly regulated.

It is worth recording that XTB, as a listed company, is also supervised by the Polish financial markets authority at parent-company level, which adds a layer of financial oversight and transparency that most brokers operating as private companies do not carry. A guide to verifying a broker’s licence is worth reading before any trading account is opened.

Opening an Account and Verification

Account opening is entirely digital and direct, on the broker’s own documentation as published in February 2026. Registration runs through the website or the app: personal details first, meaning name, email address, phone number and country of residence, then a questionnaire on financial experience and circumstances, which is a mandatory regulatory requirement, and then the choice of account type.

Identity verification (KYC) is the next step. The firm asks for proof of identity, a passport or national identity card, together with proof of address, either a recent utility bill or a bank statement. Documents are uploaded electronically. No turnaround is published for the check, and reported experience varies with document quality and the time of submission.

The point in the firm’s favour is that XTB sets no minimum deposit on the standard account, so an account can start with any amount at all. That flexibility helps anyone who wants to try the platform with a small sum before committing more.

Anyone new to trading who wants a general picture of the steps involved in opening a trading account can look at a guide to opening a trading account, which covers the process broker by broker.

The account-opening steps in outline:

  • Visit the XTB website and choose “open a live account”
  • Complete the personal details and the suitability questionnaire
  • Upload the verification documents (identity plus proof of address)
  • Fund the account and start trading on xStation 5

Account Types

XTB takes a simplified approach to account structure next to brokers offering 4 or 5 different types. The firm has concentrated on one main account (Standard) after phasing out the Pro account and its raw spread. That simplification has advantages and drawbacks both.

Account typeMinimum depositSpread fromForex commissionBest suited to
StandardNo minimum0.5 pipsNone (built into the spread)All traders
Swap Free (Islamic)No minimumSlightly wider than StandardNoneTraders who want a Sharia-compliant account
Demo accountFreeIdentical to the Standard accountNoneBeginners and strategy testing

The Standard account suits most traders, beginner or advanced alike. The absence of a minimum deposit is a clear advantage and puts it within everyone’s reach. The spread starts at 0.5 pips on the major currency pairs during active market hours, though the actual average runs higher, at around 0.9 pips on EURUSD on the third-quarter 2025 data.

The drawback is the absence of a raw-spread account (Raw Spread) with a fixed commission, which is what professional scalpers (Scalpers) tend to prefer. Where very low trading cost is the overriding priority and a zero-spread account is what is wanted, alternatives such as Pepperstone, which offers Razor accounts with spreads from 0.0 pips, are worth a look.

The Islamic account: XTB offers an Islamic account free of overnight interest, or swap, to clients in Arab and Muslim-majority countries. It is available to clients in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Malaysia. “Swap Free” can be selected directly on the registration form. On the broker’s published terms the account carries a slightly wider spread, or a substitute administration fee in place of the swap on some instruments, which is common among forex brokers offering Islamic accounts.

Fees and Trading Costs

Trading costs are the factor that bears most directly on a trader’s profitability over the long run. The figures below set the published spreads against three main competitors, IG, Pepperstone and eToro, across the London and New York sessions and the overlap between them.

Spreads

On the figures published for February 2026, the XTB spread on the standard account is at its tightest during the overlap of the London and New York sessions and widens appreciably in the quiet stretches, notably before the European open and after the American close.

The table below sets out approximate average spreads on the standard account for the most heavily traded instruments, next to three competitors. The figures are approximations drawn from data published by independent sources for the first quarter of 2026.

InstrumentXTB (Standard)IG (Standard)Pepperstone (Standard)eToro
EURUSD0.9 pips0.9 pips1.0 pips1.0 pips
GBPUSD1.4 pips1.4 pips1.3 pips2.0 pips
USDJPY1.0 pips0.9 pips1.1 pips1.0 pips
AUDUSD1.2 pips1.0 pips1.2 pips1.5 pips
USDCHF1.4 pips1.3 pips1.3 pips1.5 pips
Gold (XAUUSD)35 cents30 cents18 cents45 cents
Oil (Brent)5 cents2.8 cents4 cents5 cents

As the table shows, the XTB spread on the Standard account sits mid-range: competitive against eToro and close to IG, but higher than Pepperstone on some instruments, gold in particular. The point that matters is that XTB charges no commission on trading in the Standard account, so the cost is folded entirely into the spread, which makes the all-in figure simpler to work out.

Commissions

On contracts for difference (CFDs), forex, commodities and indices included, there is no commission at all; the cost sits in the spread alone. On real shares and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), trading is entirely free up to a monthly turnover of 100,000 euros. Above that threshold a commission of 0.2% applies, with a floor of 10 euros per trade. That generous threshold makes trading effectively free for most individual traders.

Overnight (Swap) Charges

Overnight charges apply to contract-for-difference positions still open after the daily market close. The amount varies with the instrument, the direction of the trade and prevailing interest rates, and on Wednesday the swap is levied three times over to cover the weekend. On Islamic accounts the swap is replaced by a wider spread, or by an administration fee on some instruments.

Deposit and Withdrawal Fees

XTB charges nothing on deposits as a general rule, with exceptions: a Skrill deposit attracts a 2% fee, and a Neteller deposit a 1% fee. Withdrawals are free above 50 dollars, or the equivalent in another account currency. A withdrawal below 50 dollars carries a 5 dollar fee.

Inactivity Fee

Here is a real negative. After 12 months of inactivity, meaning no trades at all, and with no cash deposit in the last 90 days, XTB charges an inactivity fee of 10 euros a month, or the equivalent in other currencies. An account opened and then left untouched for a long stretch will therefore start to lose value. Closing the account, or placing at least one small trade every 12 months, avoids the charge.

Costs Overall

Taken together, the XTB fee structure is strong and competitive on real shares and exchange-traded funds, where the zero-commission policy puts it clearly ahead of most rivals. On contracts for difference and forex the fees are acceptable without being the lowest on the market. The inactivity fee remains a mark against it.

Desktop Trading Platforms

XTB has staked everything on its own xStation 5 as the main and now almost the only trading platform. The firm offered MetaTrader 4 previously but has been moving away from it by degrees in favour of xStation 5.

The xStation 5 platform: this is the heart of the XTB offering and what sets it apart from competitors. It is available through the browser (WebTrader) and as a desktop application for Windows and Mac. It carries advanced charting tools with more than 30 technical indicators, a market sentiment gauge showing the proportion of traders buying against selling on each instrument, depth of market (DOM), and a built-in stock screener (Stock Screener) for filtering shares against a range of financial criteria.

xStation 5 in the browser includes a trading calculator that opens with a new position and works out the margin required and the potential profit and loss before the order goes in. That is a genuinely useful feature for traders who manage risk closely. Chart loading speed and interface responsiveness are not measured here.

The absence of MetaTrader: this may count against the broker for some traders. MetaTrader 4 and MT5 are the most widely used platforms in forex, allowing automated trading through expert advisors (Expert Advisors) and access to thousands of custom indicators. XTB discontinued application programming interface (API) support for xStation 5 with effect from March 2025, which limits the scope for connecting external automated trading systems. Anyone who relies on automation, or on custom indicators in MetaTrader, may need to look at other brokers such as IG Markets, which offers several platforms.

For a closer look at what each trading platform does well and badly, there is a guide to the different trading platforms that sets them side by side.

Mobile Trading Apps

In an age of trading from a phone, XTB offers a mobile app built on the same xStation 5 platform. What follows is drawn from the app listing and the broker’s own documentation as they stood in February 2026.

The XTB Online Investing app on the Google Play store carries a rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars from more than 120,000 reviews. The app supports 17 languages, Arabic among them, and provides the core platform functions: placing trades, following charts and managing the account.

The interface is clean and well organised on the published screenshots. Charting on the phone comes close to the desktop build, with technical indicators and drawing tools both available on the mobile charts.

Order execution speed in the app is not measured here. The app also supports instant notifications for price alerts and market news.

Instruments Available

XTB offers a wide range of instruments, beyond 5,800 in all, which is a large number next to most brokers. The instrument list published for xStation 5 sets out the detail of each category.

Asset classApproximate countNotes
Currency pairs (forex)57 pairsMajor, minor and exotic pairs, as contracts for difference
Real shares3,000+ sharesFrom 16 global exchanges, commission-free up to 100,000 euros a month
Exchange-traded funds (ETFs)1,400+ fundsReal and contract-for-difference, commission-free up to 100,000 euros a month
CFD shares1,800+ sharesContracts for difference on shares, with leverage
Indices36 indicesUS500, US100, DE40, UK100 and others
Commodities22 commoditiesGold, silver, oil, natural gas, wheat, coffee and others
Digital assets50+ currenciesBitcoin and Ethereum among others (availability varies by regulated entity)

The standout feature of the XTB range is real shares and exchange-traded funds. Where most forex brokers offer only contracts for difference on shares, XTB allows actual shares to be bought and held. That makes the holder a real owner of the share, with rights to dividends, rather than a speculator on price movements through a contract for difference.

On the count of currency pairs, 57 pairs, the range is acceptable without being the widest, set beside forex specialists offering more than 80 or 100 pairs. For most traders concentrating on the major and minor pairs, though, it is sufficient.

Gold (XAUUSD) is among the instruments available as a contract for difference, with a competitive spread. For anyone drawn to precious metals, there is a guide to trading gold covering the basics of that market.

In December 2025, XTB obtained CySEC approval to offer spot digital-asset trading, not merely contracts for difference, and in January 2026 it launched US share options. That steady widening of the product range reflects an ambition to move from being a forex broker to a broader investment platform.

Order Execution

Execution speed on xStation 5 is not measured here: no orders were placed for this review, and the broker publishes no execution-speed target for the platform.

On slippage (Slippage), nothing is measured here and the broker publishes no figure for it. What can be said is structural rather than empirical: slippage is likeliest around major economic releases, when liquidity thins, and least likely on the major pairs in ordinary market conditions.

XTB uses a market execution model (Market Execution) on contracts for difference, which means an order is filled at the best price available in the market with no requote. The model gives fast execution, but it can also mean the price actually obtained differs slightly from the price displayed at the moment the button is pressed.

The order types available include immediate market orders; pending orders (Buy Limit, Sell Limit, Buy Stop and Sell Stop); stop loss and take profit; and advanced orders such as Trailing Stop. A further feature is that stop loss and take profit can be set in pips, as a fixed monetary amount, or as a percentage of the account, which makes risk management considerably easier.

Deposit Methods

XTB supports a range of deposit methods covering what traders in different regions need. The published minimum, processing time and charge for each are set out below.

Deposit methodMinimumProcessing timeXTB fee
Visa/MastercardNoneInstantFree
Bank transferNone1-3 business daysFree
PayPalNoneInstantFree
SkrillNoneInstant2% of the amount
NetellerNoneInstant1% of the amount

The point in the broker’s favour is that most deposit routes are free. The notable exception is a deposit through Skrill, which carries a 2% fee, or Neteller, which carries a 1% fee; both are high next to brokers such as Exness, which charges nothing on any deposit route.

On the published processing times, a bank card is the quickest and most convenient deposit route, and it carries no charge. Some banks in the Arab region may decline the transaction the first time for security reasons, in which case the bank has to be contacted to enable international payments.

Withdrawal Methods

Withdrawal routes at XTB mirror the deposit routes, with some conditions attached that matter. Requests are submitted through the xStation 5 dashboard, or through the personal area on the website.

Can money be withdrawn from XTB? The question recurs in Arabic-language search. No withdrawal was requested for this review, so no timing is asserted here. What the firm published for the first quarter of 2026 is a set of routes, each with a processing window and a fee threshold, and both appear in the table below.

Withdrawal methodProcessing timeXTB feeNotes
Bank transfer1-3 business daysFree (on amounts above 50 dollars)5 dollars on amounts below 50 dollars
Visa/Mastercard1-2 business daysFree (on amounts above 50 dollars)5 dollars on amounts below 50 dollars
PayPalInstant to one business dayFree (on amounts above 50 dollars)5 dollars on amounts below 50 dollars
SkrillInstant to one business dayFree (on amounts above 50 dollars)5 dollars on amounts below 50 dollars

The main condition for a free withdrawal is that the amount must exceed 50 dollars, or the equivalent in another account currency. Withdrawals below that carry a 5 dollar fee. The condition is a reasonable one and does not touch most traders, but it may not suit anyone trading very small amounts who wants to take small profits out frequently.

Completing identity verification in full before depositing a large amount, using the same payment method for both deposit and withdrawal, and keeping a record of every transaction are the sensible precautions.

Customer Support

Neither support quality nor the speed of Arabic-language replies is scored here: scoring either would mean contacting the desk, and no contact was made. What the firm published as of February 2026 is set out below, on availability and language coverage rather than on measured speed.

Live Chat: live chat is published as a support channel, and Arabic appears among the languages the desk handles, though not at every hour of the day. The broker publishes no target response time for the channel, and queue times, the language an individual reply arrives in, and the accuracy of technical terminology in translation are all outside what can be assessed here.

Email: an email address is published for written enquiries, including on overnight charges on the Islamic account. No target response time is published for it, and written replies are handled primarily in English, as the table below records.

Telephone: XTB publishes telephone support at some of its offices. Arabic cover on the line is limited, as the table below records, and whether an Arabic-speaking agent can be reached on it is not established here.

ChannelAvailabilityArabicResponse time (unverified)
Live chat24/5 (business days)Available (not always)1-3 minutes
Email24/5Sometimes answered in English4-12 hours
TelephoneBusiness hoursLimitedVaries
Help centreAlwaysArticles in ArabicInstant (self-service)

Arabic-language support at XTB is thinner than at some competitors that specialise in the Arab market, such as Exness or XM, both of which publish Arabic support around the clock. The online help centre, though, is comprehensive and carries Arabic articles covering most of the common questions. With the DFSA office in Dubai, Arabic support may well improve as the number of clients in the region grows.

Research and Educational Material

The educational and research material XTB publishes is among the firm’s strongest points and ahead of most competitors in that area. XTB took the “Best in Class” (Best in Class) award for education from ForexBrokers.com in 2026.

The XTB academy: it runs structured courses at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, taking in instructional videos, detailed articles and live webinars (webinars) on subjects from trading basics through to advanced strategies. Some of that content is available in Arabic, though the greater part of it is in English.

Daily analysis: XTB publishes daily market analysis from a team of specialist analysts, covering technical and fundamental work on the main markets. On the record for February 2026 the notes appear on a regular schedule and carry usable detail, which sets them apart from the generic, shallow commentary some other brokers put out.

Research tools built into xStation 5: the platform carries built-in research tools, among them the stock screener (Stock Screener) for filtering shares against a range of financial criteria, a market heatmap (Heatmap) showing sector and share performance visually, a market sentiment gauge, and a built-in economic calendar.

Taken as a whole, the educational and research material at XTB is one of this broker’s principal strengths, and it suits beginner and intermediate traders after comprehensive, well-organised teaching. For anyone who wants deeper instruction on financial analysis and its tools, the XTB academy provides a good base to build on.

Safety of Funds and Safeguards

The safety of client money is among the weightiest factors in choosing a brokerage. The fund-protection policies XTB published as of February 2026 show several layers, some of them as strong as anything in the industry, and the firm’s position as a listed company is the reason.

Segregation of client money: XTB is required to keep client money apart from the firm’s operating funds across every one of its regulated entities. The European entities, in Poland, Cyprus and the United Kingdom, answer to very strict segregation rules. Client money sits in separate bank accounts that the firm cannot draw on for its own operations.

Negative balance protection: XTB applies negative balance protection on contract-for-difference accounts, so a loss cannot run beyond the amount held in the account. It is mandatory at the European entities under the ESMA rules and is applied at the other entities as well.

Compensation arrangements: the XTB entity in Poland belongs to the Polish investor compensation system (KDPW), whose published limit is 100% of the first 3,000 euros and 90% of amounts between 3,000 and 22,000 euros. The Cyprus entity belongs to the ICF fund, with a published limit of 20,000 euros. The DFSA entity in Dubai sits under a strict regulatory framework but with no equivalent government fund. In every case the scheme itself, not the broker, decides which claims qualify.

The stock exchange listing: as a company listed in Warsaw, XTB is subject to strict financial disclosure requirements, audited quarterly and annual reports among them. Any deterioration in the firm’s financial position would show up immediately in its share price and be visible to the public, which is a further layer of transparency and oversight.

In summary on the safety of funds: XTB ranks among the safer and more transparent forex brokers, on the strength of several tier-one licences and a stock exchange listing. A trader in the Arab region dealing with the DFSA entity in Dubai has a sound level of safeguard. Traders on the IFSC entity in Belize have less, although the group’s general standing and its financial transparency temper that concern.

Conclusion

On the published terms and licence records for the first quarter of 2026, XTB is a credible and well-developed broker with a rounded trading and investment offering, subject to several reservations worth weighing.

Who XTB suits:

  • Traders and investors after a modern, easy-to-use platform with advanced analysis tools
  • Investors who want to trade real shares and exchange-traded funds with no commission
  • Beginners who need high-quality, well-organised educational content
  • Traders in the United Arab Emirates who prefer a broker licensed locally by DFSA
  • Anyone who values financial transparency and would rather deal with a listed company

Who it may not suit:

  • Professional scalpers who need the tightest possible spread through Raw Spread accounts
  • Anyone who relies on automated trading through MetaTrader, or who needs an application programming interface (API)
  • Traders working with very small sums, who would feel both the withdrawal fee below 50 dollars and the inactivity charge

Common concerns addressed:

On the question “Is XTB a scam or a fraud?” which recurs in Arabic-language search, the answer, on the basis of licence records checked directly against the regulators’ registers, is no. The company has been listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 2016, holds licences from tier-one regulators (FCA, KNF, CySEC and DFSA), and has an operating record running more than 23 years. That does not mean trading with it is free of the risk of losing money: about 76% of individual trading accounts lose money on contracts for difference. It matters to understand that the proportion is a property of contract-for-difference trading itself rather than a defect in the broker. Other broker reviews allow that proportion to be set against brokers such as eToro and others.

On “XTB withdrawal problems”, no withdrawal was requested for this review, so nothing is claimed either way. The complaints that circulate online mostly trace back to cases where identity verification was never completed, or to withdrawals below the free threshold (50 dollars).

On “Is XTB halal or haram?” the firm offers an Islamic account free of overnight interest to clients in Arab and Muslim-majority countries. The religious ruling on contract-for-difference trading remains disputed among scholars, however, and lies beyond the scope of this review. Consulting a specialist in Islamic jurisprudence is the right course.

On how XTB compares with other brokers: anyone after a tighter forex spread may be better served by Pepperstone and its Razor accounts, and anyone after a broader market range with advanced research by IG Markets. For a rounded investment platform with commission-free real shares, first-rate educational content and a modern interface, XTB is a strong and competitive option.

The broker is a strong and well-developed operation, distinguished by the award-winning xStation 5 platform, commission-free trading in real shares, and educational content among the best in the industry. The principal reservations concern a forex spread that is not the lowest on the market, the absence of MetaTrader, and the inactivity fee.

Frequently Asked Questions About XTB

Is XTB licensed and trustworthy?

Yes. XTB is a publicly listed joint-stock company on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE), listed since 2016, and it holds licences from several tier-one regulators: the Polish KNF, the British FCA (522157), the Cypriot CySEC (169/12) and DFSA in Dubai (F006316). Any licence can be checked directly on the relevant regulator’s own website.

What is the minimum deposit at XTB?

There is no minimum deposit on the standard XTB account (Standard). An account can start with whatever amount suits the budget. Fractional shares are available too, from 10 euros.

Is an Islamic account available at XTB?

Yes. XTB offers an Islamic account free of overnight interest (Swap Free) to clients in Arab and Muslim-majority countries, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt and Jordan among them. The Islamic account can be selected directly at registration. It may carry a wider spread, or a substitute administration fee on some instruments.

Is share trading free at XTB?

Yes. Trading in real shares and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) is free of commission up to a monthly turnover of 100,000 euros. Above that threshold a commission of 0.2% applies, with a floor of 10 euros. That generous threshold leaves trading effectively free for most individual traders.

What is the trading platform at XTB?

The main trading platform at XTB is xStation 5, the firm’s own, and it has won several awards. It is available through the browser, as a desktop application and as a mobile app. Its strengths are a modern design, advanced analysis tools, a market sentiment gauge and a built-in stock screener. There is no MetaTrader 5 platform, and MetaTrader 4 is being phased out.

Are there hidden fees at XTB?

There are no hidden fees in any real sense, but there are charges worth knowing about: an inactivity fee of 10 euros a month after 12 months without trading, a withdrawal fee of 5 dollars on amounts below 50 dollars, and deposit fees through Skrill (2%) and Neteller (1%). Beyond those, the fee structure is transparent and clearly published.
